Holistic Development
We understand holistic development as improvement in the quality of life in all aspects; and we believe that true & complete development occurs only as people follow God’s leadership. This means that their spiritual life forms the foundation on which they build their lives, and the environment in which they conduct all matters of life. God both enables and directs constructive transformation spiritually & morally, physically, relationally, intellectually, economically, and environmentally. Jesus stated that his purpose in coming to earth was that people would have “life, life to the full.”
We seek to facilitate a process of community discovery and learning:
- understanding what God’s will for them is, and how it applies in all parts of life;
- understanding the nature of the problems they are facing;
- understanding what resources they have;
- and improving their skills in how to use them.
In light of God’s calling to love others and because the task is much larger than us, we partner with those of like mind.
We are currently involved in:
- Spiritual mentoring & small group development:
helping people know & love God and follow his leadership in their lives, and forming small groups which are centered on God and his will - Leadership training:
training small group leaders, and those who are leading other forms of community development - Chiefs’ training:
in the development stage; our goal is to provide chiefs with a broad range of training to help them be more effective community leaders
- Youth outreach:
involves coaching soccer teams and spiritually mentoring the team members - Translating God’s word:
putting God's word in the local language, and involving the community in the process; language & culture research necessary to the project is also contributing to the preservation of their language, culture & history - Agriculture development:
forming development clubs and training members in God's word, agriculture, finances, and other things - Compassion outreach:
gives holistic assistance to individuals (and their extended families) who are facing a personal crisis - Media development:
in development stage; our goal is God-centered materials for community development
